Summer Programs at Brandon Hall School’s Center for Global Youth Leadership

Distinguish yourself from the rest...

Founded in 2017 by Dean J. Fusto, the aim of the Center for Global Youth Leadership and Social Entrepreneurial Studies™ is to inspire middle and high school students to seek innovative and entrepreneurial solutions to challenges facing their local communities and global family. Through a rigorous, varied, and experiential curriculum students pursue their "passion projects" and entrepreneurial ideas with the guidance of experts from the corporate, non-profit, social service, and Consular sectors. The Center programs are never confined to the classroom, our students are immersed in both field work and our historic 24-acre campus, surrounded by the beautiful Chattahoochee River.

Our Summer Programs:

+ Global Youth Leadership in Action™

3 - Week Programs: June 26 - July 14, 2020; July 16 - August 4, 2020

The Center for Global Youth Leadership and Social Entrepreneurial Studies™ at Brandon Hall was founded in 2016. The aim of its many programs is to equip, ignite, and propel forward a new generation of innovative, purposeful, skillful, and collaborative global leaders.

Our unique student leaders work together in a cohort design that is problem-based, curiosity driven, and fully experiential. Through a rigorous and challenging daily schedule of classes, workshops, field studies, and special events, all of our global youth leaders are required to identify a societal or global issue that they want to actively endeavor to solve.

Students will connect with successful entrepreneurs and begin building the skills to bring their entrepreneurial ideas and passions to life.

Our Global Youth Leadership in Action™ program culminates in the GLYIA-20 International Conference, where student entrepreneurs will present their ideas on stage to an audience of local, national, and global participants.

Summer is a great time to improve your English! ELL Global Village™ welcomes students from around the world, and allows you to live and learn English in an experiential program. Students will be fully immersed in English speaking, reading, writing, and listening to help them hone their skills both inside and outside of the classroom.

Students will balance academic classroom study with daily cultural and educational experiences around the Atlanta area. ELL Global Village™ is an intensive program, which helps students refine their communication skills and prepares them for future success. In our residential hall, students typically board with peers from a different country than their own to broaden their global horizons.

Each student’s English level will be assessed, and he/she will be placed into a group accordingly. Native and non-native English speakers collaborate for a truly global experience. Our ELL instructor works with beginning English speakers, all the way up through advanced.

Summer Program Testimonials

Let our families share with you what makes us special!

Our son Aaron had a wonderful opportunity to participate in the Brandon Hall School Global Youth Leadership Program. When he arrived, he was welcomed and everyone made him feel right at home. While he was there, he had a chance to be a boarder which allowed him to have a glimpse of the full Brandon Hall experience. He learned many things about service, leadership and communication skills, and he founded his own nonprofit organization. According to Aaron, “it was fun and inspirational.” He still talks about his experience in the leadership program. Aaron often makes references to the things that he learned at Brandon Hall. He met many new friends while he was there; friends he still keeps in touch with even now. After attending the leadership program, we saw a great change in our son for the better. It was this wonderful experience that led to Aaron’s enrollment at Brandon Hall School this fall. We knew that we had “finally” found the perfect learning environment for our son, one that celebrates learning and embraces diversity. We are grateful for all that Brandon Hall School has to offer and we are excited to see what the school year brings.
— Darwin and Phyllis, Parents of Aaron, GYLIA ‘17 - Cohort 1
My nephew, Isaiah, was absolutely thrilled when he learned that his application had been accepted to attend your Global Youth Leadership in Action summer program. Now that he has returned home, I know that his time at Brandon Hall was the most valuable high school experience for him thus far. Isaiah was positively impacted by the vast array of speakers that shared their stories of how they overcame their adversities (Sucheta Rawal - Social Entrepreneurship), utilized their passions to launch their own business (Kendall Jackson with Love Rolls) and discussions around how each one found their individual efforts toward helping others. Isaiah returned home with a much more positive attitude and outlook on life and his future.

It has been amazing to watch Isaiah grow mentally, physically and emotionally. Brandon Hall’s Summer Program was able to provide a lasting impact on Isaiah directly, but also further reaching the relationships and communication within our family dynamic as well. He left as a ‘typical quiet teen’ and returned as a young man with a new passion to be engaging and a personal drive to do more and strive higher for himself and his involvement with others. He took personal pride in his summer presentation and impressed us all with his final presentation and dynamic business proposal/pitch. We were pleasantly surprised with each one of the student’s innovation and preparation.
— NeCall, Aunt of Isaiah, GYLIA ‘17 - Cohort 1
I wanted to tell you how impressed I was with all the presentations from the students in the Leadership Program.  They were all wonderful and innovative and I am so proud of all the students. I also wanted to express our thanks for letting Maheer go through the leadership program. He has learned so much and has grown tremendously! In addition to all the things he learned in the program, he has made lasting friendships. One of the aspects of your school that is so attractive and commendable is the diversity of students. This is so important for youth to experience. What Maheer has gained from this leadership program far exceeded my expectations, so I thank you all again. I look forward to collaborating with you again as we apply for high school admission in the fall.
— Salma, Parent of Maheer, GYLIA ‘17 - Cohort 1
