My story begins at Brandon Hall in the fall of 2000 as a Physical Education teacher and I fell in love with many aspects of the school and our community from Day 1. This is evident when, after leaving BH in 2003 and completing my masters degree, I returned as Director of Athletics at Brandon Hall School in 2006.
2020年欧洲杯小组赛赛程Although a significant piece of my role here has been to cultivate the athletic department, my experiences at Brandon Hall School has also touched many other corners of the school. As a residential life member for 3 years, I was immersed in the boarding community; as a Physical Education and Health teacher, I found myself working with the students in the classroom; and, as an administrator, I have assisted in admissions and fundraising.
There are many things about Brandon Hall School that I am passionate about: Watching a student athlete achieve something he/she didn’t think was possible; Seeing student athletes take great pride in being part of a team at Brandon Hall. This opportunity is not available for all students at many bigger schools; Seeing the teams grow and improve- not only their skill set but learn how to handle different situations, improve their communication skills, and exhibit sportsmanship. As a diverse community, seeing students from various backgrounds bond and learn each other’s culture is an invaluable life experience.
We have also had significant success on the scoreboard, winning many region and state team/individual championships and watching many of our student athletes play collegiately. Success on the field is not the only measure of success for our student athletes. The mission of this athletic department is to give every student athlete a valuable experience and to celebrate those experiences and achievements, no matter the outcome.
I personally invite you to come on by and check out the teaching in the gym at a practice after school, the trophy case in Huff Center, or the environment on a Friday night basketball home game. I am confident you will see the “family” in everything we do.
